Prepmate Assistance

Premate is a program that aims to provide households with easy-to-prepare meals through Meal Kits. Come and join our friendly Prepmate team as we pack meal kits that help households prepare easy, delicious meals at home. Our meal kits are supplied to pantries across our network, local community partners and customers through our online ordering platform.

What you’ll do
Support our small but mighty team with assembling, packing and organising meal kits. Tasks include measuring and packing ingredients, building boxes, organising stock and getting orders ready for delivery.

Skills and requirements
No previous experience is needed. Health and safety training and basic food hygiene training are available for volunteers who would like to develop their skills.

Accessibility
Shifts may involve some standing, but activities can be adapted for sitting and to accommodate mobility needs. Please speak to us about any accessibility requirements so we can discuss how to support you.

Time commitment
Three-hour volunteer shifts take place Monday to Saturday, from 10am to 1pm, at the TSPN office.

Transformation Shift Volunteer
Help turn surplus food into something delicious while keeping our kitchen clean and organised. Each week, TSPN receives surplus food from FareShare, with most distributed to pantries across our network. Every Thursday, we bring volunteers together to transform the remaining food, alongside excess ingredients from the week, into a community meal or dessert.

What you’ll do
Help decide what to make with the available ingredients, develop recipes and assist with cooking. You’ll also help clean and organise our kitchen and storage spaces. Enjoy tea or coffee during the session, and take home any available leftovers.

Skills and requirements
No previous experience or qualifications are needed. Health and safety training will be provided as required. If you enjoy cooking, organising or learning how to reduce food waste, we’d love to welcome you.

Accessibility
The role may involve standing and moving around, but activities can be adapted for sitting and to accommodate mobility needs. Please speak to us about any accessibility requirements so we can discuss how to support you.

Time commitment
Drop in every Thursday from 12pm to 2pm at the TSPN office. No sign-up or ongoing commitment is required.

Transformation Shifts

Cookery Classes

Help people build confidence in the kitchen by supporting our friendly cookery classes. Working alongside TSPN staff, you’ll help deliver six-week courses and one-off workshops at TSPN and community partner venues.

What you’ll do
Help prepare the kitchen and ingredients, set up sessions, support attendees as they cook, wash up and assist with transporting equipment and supplies.

Skills and requirements
Basic food hygiene and food safety training, alongside elementary cooking skills, are required. Some cooking experience is helpful, but you don’t need to be an experienced cook.

Accessibility
The role involves some standing, but certain activities can be adapted for sitting. Please speak to us about any accessibility needs so we can discuss how to support you.

Time commitment
Shifts last approximately four hours, with opportunities to support a full six-week course or individual sessions. We ask volunteers to attend their agreed shifts reliably and give as much notice as possible if they’re unable to attend

Admin / Receptionist

Join our friendly TSPN team and help keep our office organised and running smoothly. You’ll support the everyday administrative work that helps us deliver our community projects.

What you’ll do
Help organise the office and assist our team with day-to-day administrative and reception tasks.

Skills and requirements
No previous experience or qualifications are required. A friendly approach, willingness to learn and an interest in helping with office organisation are welcome.

Accessibility
This is primarily a seated, office-based role and may involve extended periods of computer work. Please speak to our volunteer coordinator about any accessibility needs so we can discuss how to support you.

Time commitment
Shifts typically run Monday to Saturday, from 9am to 12pm. Your volunteering days and schedule can be agreed with our volunteer coordinator.

Delivery Driving

Join our friendly team and help get easy-to-prepare meal kits to pantries and community partners. Using a TSPN van, you’ll help ensure our meal kits reach the people and organisations who need them.

What you’ll do
Collect your van from TSPN, follow the delivery schedule and transport meal kits to their destinations. You’ll help load and unload boxes, liaise with recipients and manage delivery paperwork, usually with support from a Driver’s Assistant.

Skills and requirements
You’ll need a valid, clean driving licence and experience driving a medium-sized Transit van. You must be able to lift and load items and understand delivery schedules, drop-off instructions and documents. Flexibility is essential, as routes and delivery locations may change when managing surplus food.

Accessibility
The role involves lifting, loading and unloading, alongside potentially extended periods of driving. Occasional lone working is required when a Driver’s Assistant is unavailable. Please speak to our volunteer coordinator about any accessibility needs so we can discuss the role with you.

Time commitment
Shifts usually run Monday to Saturday, from 9am to around 12pm, with occasional afternoon opportunities. Your volunteering days and schedule can be agreed with our volunteer coordinator.
